40 years ago on March 11, 1978, we “walked the aisle” and committed our lives in marriage to each other! We were 20 and 23 – only kids, but by God’s grace and His promises, we have come this far! It hasn’t all been easy, but we can truly say God has been faithful to supply His grace to help us in every situation!
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Hebrews 4:16
And we have!! MANY times!! 🙂 🙂
And here’s a fun fact: Something few people know, except of course those who attended our wedding: Our ceremony was an hour and forty-five minutes long! Oh Yes It Was! Thankfully nobody fainted or fell asleep!! 🙂
It began with one of our friends singing a song as I walked down the isle with my parents, and then I sang to Jill as she walked down with hers.
We decided to break traditions and just go for what we wanted. There was a full-blown 30-minute worship service with a full band which our good friends led, and there were even prophecies and prophetic songs given in the midst of it all! In addition we had two pastor friends officiate, who both shared awesome sermons on love and marriage.
One of them even had a vision of us being like trees on each side of a river – our roots grown together under the river and our branches intertwined above it, which would cause our union to have a constant flow of nourishment and fruitfulness.
They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season.Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. Psalm 1:3
There were many other beautiful prophetic statements given, making it a landmark day, not easily forgotten! I’m sure those who attended were really glad when the final “AMEN” was given, since it went sooooooo long!!J
It was one giant knot that was tied that day!!
Our union began with a Holy Ghost worship service, and we continue to this day leading people all around the world into God’s presence through our worship CDs and live services in conferences, Bible schools and churches.
To God be all of the Glory!
Blessings to you all,
Charlie & Jill
