God Is Our Refuge

After a very powerful evening of worship years ago, I (Charlie) began to write a song to this scripture as I was praying for our church youth group. They had recently left for a missions trip south of the border.

Little did I know that as I was writing and passionately singing this song to the Lord, the group was having trouble with government officials, and almost all of them were thrown into prison for preaching the gospel and bringing Bibles into the country. And this was over 30 years ago!!

Thankfully, after a difficult interrogation, they were all eventually released over a one-to-two day period. The next morning when I heard the news, I realized the Lord had used me to write and sing a “song of deliverance” over them, sending HELP in their time of need.

The psalmist David said, You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah Psalm 32:7

(We like how the Amplified translates “Selah” — Pause and calmly think of that — something we ALL need to do OFTEN!!)

It’s amazing how a scripture song in your heart and mouth at just the right time can help you and release the power of God in your life when you need it most!

Our friend, Andrew Wommack, and many others have shared how this song has helped them, bringing courage and deliverance when they were facing very difficult times in their lives.

Never underestimate the power of singing the word of God!

Fill your heart with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs from scriptures, and watch the power of God bring deliverance and peace into your situation!

(Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16, Acts 16:25)

Matter of fact, take a scripture the Lord illuminates to you and just begin singing a melody to it, making a joyful noise to Him! Sing it over and over! This will bring peace to your soul and cause your spirit to rise up in Truth. 🙂
