As you know, God made man in His image and likeness to love and follow Him. Unfortunately, man has gone his own way and followed his evil desires that have left us with wars, poverty, diseases, murders, and all sorts of evil that we hear about every day.
As a result, there are so many families and friends broken in pain and heartache, mourning the loss of their loved ones. 🙁
We understand this pain, having lost our dear son Beau to cancer in 2009. Thankfully, we knew God loved us and that our son had entered right into the arms of Jesus, but we were still left with gut-wrenching pain.
That’s when we reached out to Jesus to heal our broken hearts and comfort us in our mourning (Isaiah 61). We needed that desperately!
Then we saw Paul’s beautiful description of our Heavenly Father in 2 Corinthians 1:3:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and God of all comfort.
That changed everything, seeing the Lord as the God of ALL Comfort. Even though we felt as if the pain would never stop, thankfully God’s comfort would come and gently speak to our hearts, through His Spirit, His Word, and even through His people. We needed arms to hold us, tears shed with us, and the hope of knowing that the Lord was compassionately walking with us in our sorrow.
He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:4 NLT
And that’s exactly what God has asked us to do, comfort others with His comfort, and by His grace, we areturning our pain into purpose, helping others find hope and healing.
