The heart is one of our most critical possessions, vital to both our natural lives AND our spiritual lives.
Everywhere we turn today we can find articles and studies on taking better care of our physical hearts to help us live better, healthier, longer lives.
At the same time, all over the Bible are messages from God instructing us on taking better care of our spiritual hearts to help us live more meaningful, loving, fruitful lives. BOTH of them are essential to help us run our race on Earth and finish strong, but let’s reflect on the latter for a moment.#
In Proverbs 4:23 we read, Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (NIV) The New Living Translation adds, for it determines the course of your life. Wow! That sounds pretty serious!
What goes on in our hearts will determine our future!
What we think upon, what we do, what we read, watch & listen to, how we treat others and how we relate to God are essential elements in determining the paths our lives will follow.
We must consciously determine to honor the Lord with our choices and with how we live each day ~ Choosing well can release blessings to flow in our lives.
One way to honor the Lord is to live a life of worship – everyday, all the time. Some might say, “I love God but I can’t be singing all the time! I live around PEOPLE and need to talk to them!”
Agreed! But worship is not just a single act, it’s also a state of being – a lifestyle. There are many ways to worship the Lord, but not all of them have to do with singing or expressing verbal adoration.
Romans 12:1-2 tells us, I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship…
Living a life of worship is about presenting
ourselves to God and living our lives to please Him.
Interestingly, this scripture clearly indicates that how we live through our NATURAL BODIES can equate into SPIRITUAL WORSHIP!
Developing a worshiper’s heart includes consciously choosing to NOT live our lives as mere humans (immorally, selfishly, impure, etc.), but instead choosing to live a bigger life by reminding ourselves each day to honor God with our thoughts & actions, and treat people with love & respect.
Having the heart of a worshiper is a precious possession, which will equate into many blessings, and the benefits FAR outweigh the cost of attaining it!
Let us guard our hearts and live our lives to honor and please God in everything we do. In doing so we will be worshipping Him with ALL of our heart, soul, body, mind and all that is within us!
From our hearts,
