…for He who calls you is Faithful.
1 Thessalonians 5:24
Welcome to 2016!
Ahhhh – a brand new year, like a brand new journal, waiting to be written on with dreams and goals to be carried out.
We work hard all year to fulfill what’s in our hearts, and sometimes don’t see all of the outcomes we desired. But regardless of past disappointments and shortcomings, there is one thing that is for sure:
Our God is Always Faithful!
God is Faithful to us as our loving Heavenly Father. Nothing in the past nor anything we do in the future can separate us from His immense love and admiration towards us. Romans 8:38 proclaims, Nothing can separate us from His love. Pretty amazing, knowing how short we fall of deserving His love and attention!
He is the Faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations.
Deuteronomy 7:9
When the Bible talks about the faithfulness of God, it doesn’t mean everything is going to be perfect in our lives or turn out just the way we expect. But what it does mean is, no matter what we may encounter we can know God is by our side helping us, working all things together for our good and will never leave us or forsake us. He is a present help in time of need.
When Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown into the deepest dungeon, they didn’t despair because they knew their God was with them and faithful. That’s why they could sing! They knew no matter what happened, their God would see them through.
I wonder if they were maybe singing the seeds of that great song which was later written by Thomas Chisholm in 1923,
Great is thy Faithfulness, Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hands have provided. Great is Thy faithfulness Lord unto me.
I also love the heart of the three Hebrew children when they were threatened to be thrown into a fiery furnace if they didn’t bow down to the king’s idol.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power. But even if He doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” Daniel 3:16-18
Now that’s the kind of trust in God’s Faithfulness He is looking for: No matter what may happen, we will still serve our Faithful God! That reminds me of the lyrics in one of our songs “No matter what I’m going through, I’m gonna keep my eyes on you” (You never Leave Me ~ from the CD Your Love Remains)
Our Heavenly Father is So Faithful. We can trust Him, even when we don’t understand everything. He will forever be our constant companion, our wisdom, our guide when we lack direction, our provision in the face of lack, our peace in stressful times, our hope in the face of tragedy, our rock when everything and everyone else fails us.
In this new year, we pray you will trust in God’s Faithfulness toward you like never before.
Dare to take some time to hear from God and see what He would put in your heart for this New year!
Write those thoughts down, and keep them before you throughout the year.
Bathe them with prayer and stir them up with action.
Trust Him to guide your steps as time moves forward and feed on His faithfulness.
Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Psalms 37:3 (NKJV)
Rest in His love for you as your Faithful Father draws you into closer fellowship this year and always remember:
The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.
Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning
Lamentations 3:22-23
Your future is bright! Have a blessed and rich new year!
Feeding on His Faithfulness,
